Redefine Insanity
Redefine insanity?
Why so?
Because we’re using the urban dictionary’s definition, not the real one.
And if we understood the truth behind the definition, we’d stop quitting and start achieving the things we long for.
Confused?
Sorry… Let me make this plain and simple.
How do you define insanity?
Perhaps you go by this common definition:
Insanity: “doing something over and again, yet expecting a different result”
20 years ago, that ^ definition would be to used to describe something different.
Perhaps, “PERSEVERANCE”
Or GRIT
or maybe COMMITMENT?
Back in the day, doing something over and over without backing down was a virtue.
It was character.
But today we think if success is not immediate...
…we say it’s insane to keep trying.
But this is not insanity.
What is the definition of insanity then?
Insanity is extreme foolishness.
Madness.
Dementia.
Stupidity.
So how is doing the same thing over and over again — especially a thing that’s wise, logical or a passion “insane”??
I’m afraid many of us have been duped. Hoodwinked.
We’ve become double-minded and weak willed because the results we want in life are not happening fast enough.
I admit, I have thought this way.
I’ve said to myself, “Arvell, don’t you think it’s time to do something else?”
After 18 years of online marketing and consulting… I haven’t yet hit the “two comma club” or achieved Gary Vee level status…
Maybe I need to do something else?
Then one day while doing my Morning Pages I realized my limiting belief about insanity.
I remembered many books explaining how life is a marathon, not a sprint.
I remembered that comparing myself to internet gurus wasn’t wise.
And I remembered that I should be patient with myself. Even proud of myself for the achievements I’ve accomplished.
Pursuing our dreams using the best knowledge and skill we have is not insanity.
We must keep pushing — even pushing and learning as we move forward.
Not changing or jumping onto every bandwagon that comes by.
I once read most people need to unlearn false beliefs more than learn new ones.
I hope you can learn from this post to question your own beliefs…
Hold on to the truth that endures and break free from ideas built on sand. ( or random websites )
